- Sedimentary facies: non-Turbidite
- Lithofacies: Mudstone, Interbedded mudstone and sandstone
- Lithofacies (Minor): Conglomerate, Sandstone
- Thickness: 30 m or thicker
- Upper limit: Bottom of the sandstone-dominant horizon
- Upper limit: Transitional or Interfingered (Isoura Formation, Niihama Formaiton), Unconformity (Neogene sand and gravel bed)
