• Landward slope basin of trench
• Pliocene (includes 3.75 - 3.58 Ma)
• Correlation: Hatsuse Formation, Kiyosumi Formation, Anno Formation, Hedate Formation

• Sedimentary facies: Marine
• Lithofacies: Andesite scoriaceous sandstone, Sandstone-dominant interbedded sandstone and siltstone
• Sedimentary structures: Parallel stratification, Cross stratification, Slump structure

• Thickness: 300 m or thicker
• Upper limit: Abut unconformity (Sagashi Formation)
• Lower limit: Transitional (Ishido Formation), Unconformity (Nishizaki Formation)
