Ittanda Mine

Tsuzuraya, Miwa village Mino-Kamo city, Gifu pref., Japan

Occurrence

Albite-Epidote-hornfels facies bedded Manganese deposit

Chert-hosted bedded manganese deposit in a chert block of the Middle Jurassic (165 Ma) Kamiaso unit, a member of the Tanba-Mino-Ashio accretionary complex. The age of chert is Late Triassic (230 Ma) to Middle Jurassic (165 Ma). Ore of this deposit is composed of neotocite with minor amount of rhodochrosite. This deposit has probably been subjected to Albite-Epidote-hornfels facis contact metamorphism. Ages of sedimentary rocks were determined by radiolarians.

Ittanda Mine

Entrance of an adit on the outcrop of bedded chert of the Kamiaso Unit. Ore of this deposit is very simple and is composed of neotocite and rhodochrosite. Neotocite in this deposit was described as penwithite before.
